James Varrick Armaah a Ghanaian who hails from Winneba was born into a musical family. His father a choir master of the Winneba A.M.E Zion Cathedral and his mother a chorister. His musical talents were discovered at a very tender age when after every rehearsal attended with his parents, he could remember and sing all the four parts taught. He started composing at the age of seven(7) and those try songs were performed by colleagues at Sunday School. He started playing the Organ for Church Services at the age of eleven(11) and lifted up many souls.
Later he became the principal Organist for the Winneba Youth Choir from Year 2000 to July 2007. He worked together with the choir's Director Paa John to raise the choir to its present state of being the nations leading Youth Choir. He accompanied the choir on all their recordings, performances both in Ghana and Abroad..
He is currently the Director of the Harmonious Chorale which is a choir of professional singers including Eddie Gaisie and Kweku Yeboah both professional singers with the national Symphony Orchestral,George Edzii, Kennedy Danquah, Karen Kwarteng, Cynthia Awusi Nti just to mention a few. He is also the Choir Master and Organist of the St. Paul Methodist Cathedral Tema.
He blends classical elements of composition with contemporary African elements which makes his compositions very unique. It's relaxing to listen to his songs. His two albums 'HOLY' and 'MAKOMA SO ADE' are very touching and has received a lot of encouraging compliments from the public. The launch of 'MAKOMA SO ADE' saw big personalities including Madam Joyce Aryee (the CEO of Ghana Chamber of Mines), Mr. Carlis Paitoo, Mr. Kurt Merki and many important personalities.
